Marine Pilot Coordinator – Bristol Channel Pilots
Bristol Channel Pilots are seeking a reliable and organised Marine Pilot Coordinator to
support our pilotage operations on a flexible, weekend-based schedule.
This role is primarily home-based and involves acting as the key point of contact between the
port and marine pilots.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the main communication link between the port and pilots
- Managing and allocating pilot orders
- Coordinating associated travel arrangements
- Handling general administrative duties and record keeping
- Responding to operational issues and enquiries as required
Working Pattern:
There are no guaranteed hours of work; however, the role typically requires availability
for one weekend per month, covering:
- Friday: 5:15pm onwards through to Monday: 8:45am
The successful candidate will be on call throughout this period and must be able to respond
promptly when required.

- Base: £152.82 per day
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Be highly organised and dependable
- Have strong communication and coordination skills
- Be comfortable working independently
- Be able to remain calm under pressure
- Have good administrative and IT skills
Previous experience in administration, logistics, scheduling, or maritime operations would be
advantageous but is not essential.

Bristol Channel Pilots Ltd are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified mariners seeking
authorisation as a Bristol Pilot.
Pilots operate as independent contractors, providing professional pilotage services primarily to The
Bristol Port Company across a diverse range of vessel types, navigating one of the most demanding tidal
environments in the United Kingdom.
Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with previous pilotage experience or command
experience with Pilotage Exemption Certificates (PECs), though this is not a prerequisite.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

◆ STCW Master Mariner Unlimited (II/2)
◆ ENG1 Medical Certificate
◆ Full UK driving licence
◆ Fluent English, written and spoken
◆ Right to work in the United Kingdom
◆ Willingness to reside within 20 miles of the Port of Avonmouth, reflecting the need to respond to
vessel orders within tidal pilotage windows
