Pilotage to Hinkley Point Jetty

During August pilotage of ships to the Hinkley Point C Jetty commenced in earnest. Bristol Pilot Garry Strangwood conducted the first act, taking the Aastun onto the jetty on 6th August.

3 million tonnes on concerte is required to complete the HPC project, and a significant proportion of the material can now be “shipped” rather than go by road.

During the first two weeks operation, 6 ships visited the Jetty, supplying 30 493 tonnes of cargo, which equates to 2032 road deliveries.
