Andrew Darlington Profile

Fleetwood born Andy, son of a trawler skipper joined the merchant navy at 16 as a deck boy in 1985.
He was sponsored by Shell to become an officer and eventually gained his Masters foreign going at 27.
During his time at sea he worked for Shell Tankers worldwide, United European Car Carries and also P & O North Sea Ferries.
He commenced training as a Pilot at Milford Haven in 1998 and stayed for 17 years handling vessels up to 355 m long and 55 m beam. During his time there he served various duties including Pilotage Examiner and Chairman of Pilots.
He joined Bristol Pilots Partnership in August 2015 ready for a new challenge, to be self employed and to relocate to a more central location.
He enjoys family life, outdoor activities and live music.
